FairPoint (NYSE: FRP) was one of the largest incumbent telephone companies in the United States with operations in 18 states. Above, the management team of FairPoint rings the bell on the New York Stock Exchange balcony on March 31, 2008 to celebrate the acquisition of Verizon’s wire-line business in Northern New England (that's me at the podium with the glasses). We raised more than $3 billion in financing in support of that merger, including 66 million new shares of common stock, a $600 million high yield bond and notes in the leveraged loan market. The company was sold to Consolidated Communications.
